87/369/EEC: Council Decision of 7 April 1987 concerning the conclusion of the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System and of the Protocol of Amendment thereto

The International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, done at Brussels on 14 June 1983, and the Protocol of Amendment thereto, done at Brussels on 24 June 1986, are hereby approved on behalf of the Community. The texts of the Convention and of the Protocol of Amendment thereto are attached to this Decision.

This Decision shall in no way prejudice the position of the Community in the negotiations concerning the adoption of revised schedules of tariff concessions based upon the Harmonized System. These negotiations shall continue to be conducted in strict accordance with the specific guidelines agreed by the GATT with the aim of securing neutrality in the transposition of tariff schedules.

The President of the Council is hereby authorized to designate the person empowered to deposit the instruments of acceptance on behalf of the Community .
